Since 1994, the City of Aleppo and the German Development Cooperation have been cooperating on the Rehabilitation of the Old City of Aleppo. The project has supported the development, the financing, and the implementation of a comprehensive package of balanced urban conservation and development interventions. This integrated process of rehabilitation has improved the quality of living for the inhabitants, increased the opportunities for local economic development, and strengthened the cultural identity of the old city.
